Letter: Reasons to support light rail

I believe that Ms. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, our elected representative, is in fact listening to many of us and is acting accordingly. I am well into my 70s and am a strong advocate for public transit as I can see a future when I will not be able to drive. I also recognize that rail transit has the highest capacity and efficiency of any mode. However it does require large capital investment; therefore an intelligent plan is to use rail for core routes and to feed into it with local and regional bus lines. The Vine bus rapid transit concept is an excellent example of how to exploit the synergy of transit modes.

And of course we should link Vancouver with Portland.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
