Council for the Homeless issued a severe weather alert Friday for the emergency shelter system in Clark County.

The announcement increases shelter capacity and alerts local organizations to provide additional resources.

The announcement comes as the Nation Weather Service predicts temperatures will drop to 32 degrees in Vancouver on Friday night.

People who need housing and shelter assistance should call Council for the Homeless’ Housing Hotline at 360-695-9677, which operates from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on holidays and weekends.
