Letter: Remove Snake River dams

By Heidi Cody, Vancouver
Published: December 28, 2023, 6:00am

Decades of scientific analysis has reached the same conclusion: lower Snake River dam removal is our best chance to recover salmon and steelhead populations. We need urgent action and strong leadership from policymakers at state and federal levels to end the harmful status quo. Let’s move forward to restore salmon and uphold treaty obligations. Investments in replacement energy will benefit the entire region. Stop waiting. Legislators need to seize the momentum this issue has now, and create a more resilient and just Northwest future before it is too late to save our salmon.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
