Clark County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a Thursday morning shooting in the Minnehaha area after a man reported being shot at by two prowlers.

Deputies and Vancouver police responded shortly before 1:40 a.m. for a reported shooting near the Pebble Creek Garden Apartments, 5313 N.E. 66th Ave.

The caller said he caught two people prowling vehicles in the parking lot of the apartment complex. He confronted the prowlers, whom he described as wearing all black clothing and ski masks and riding skateboards. He then followed them out of the complex, he said, and both suspects shot at him, according to a sheriff’s office news release. He was not injured.

A Vancouver police K-9 responded to the area and searched for the suspects, with help from an unmanned aircraft systems, but the suspects were not located, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies found a fired cartridge casing on the sidewalk in the 5300 block of 66th Avenue, along the east side, the news release states.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed or may have video of the incident or suspects should contact Deputy Ben Hulsey at 564-208-2375 or ben.hulsey@clark.wa.gov.
