Letter: Knife River bullies Clark County

By Scott Golphenee, VANCOUVER

Thank you, Connie Bushnell, for listening to our concerns as neighbors of Clark County, concerning the Knife River Cement Batch Plant and “spot zoning” (“Speak up against batch plant,” “Our Readers’ Views,” Feb. 12). This kind of zoning can approve anything anywhere. We’re having this conversation because the zoning was changed from light industrial to railroad industrial. Knife River, by bullying their way into Clark County, has created a toxic environment politically and possibly environmentally.

Knife River can’t railroad their way into our backyards.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
