The thing that lots of folks don’t understand when it comes to gun violence: To ultraconservatives, the right to bear arms is absolute. And if a few dozen innocent people — many of them children — have to die in a mass shooting every day or so, well, that’s just the price that has to be paid for the right to carry a gun without restriction.
