A Kelso man died Monday at a Vancouver hospital more than two weeks after crashing into another driver on state Highway 503 in Cowlitz County.

Cody W. Stroud, 32, died at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The State Patrol responded to the crash at 9:51 a.m. Feb. 10 on the highway northwest of Hayes.

Troopers said Stroud was traveling south when he crossed over the double yellow center line. He crashed into a northbound Toyota Tacoma driven by Frank A. Fish, 53, of Woodland, according to a crash memo.

Stroud’s Chevy Corsica came to a stop on the center line, sideways across the road. Fish’s pickup stopped on the northbound shoulder.

Both drivers were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The State Patrol said alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
