The Battle Ground Public Schools Board of Directors appointed Andrew Lawhon to fill the board’s vacancy for the District 2 director’s seat.

Lawhon will replace Rob Henrikson, who resigned last month after nearly three years on the board. District 2 covers the central and eastern portions of the district.

“While we are sad to see Director Henrikson leave the board and thank him for his years of service, we are pleased to appoint Andrew to the District 2 position,” said board director Jackie Maddux of Lawhon, who was one of four candidates interviewed for the position during a board meeting last week. “His knowledge and commitment to serving each student, family, staff member and the community will be an asset to the board.”

Lawhon holds bachelor of arts and Juris Doctor degrees from Gonzaga University and currently works as an attorney at Jeffrey D. Barrar P.S. and serves as a Clark County District Court Judge pro tempore.

Lawhon’s temporary appointment will last through November, after which the position will be up for election and he will be eligible to run. Tuesday will be Henrikson’s last day on the board; Lawhon will be sworn in at the board meeting on March 13.
