Letter: Protect infrastructure

By Thom McConathy, Vancouver
Published: January 4, 2023, 6:00am

Russian targeting of Ukrainian infrastructure sounds fairly benign, but the recent disruption of our electrical infrastructure shows how much of what we depend on for our quality of life is contained in said infrastructure. At least U.S. communities could still rely on water. This is terrorism and the targeting of civilian populations. Thousands are now fleeing Russian military conscription. Russia, like North Korea, is now a failed state with nuclear weapons. Our own Clark Public Utilities needs to take measures to protect our electric and water infrastructure.

We all need to support the Ukrainian people in this time of need. We are all Ukrainian.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
