Boys basketball: Currie scores 37 to lead Camas past Prairie

Beckett Currie scored 37 points to help Camas boys basketball pull away from Prairie, 83-55, in a non-league game Tuesday.

Currie hit five 3-pointers and had 34 points after three quarters.

The visiting Falcons kept the game close in the first half and trailed 42-35 at halftime. But Prairie cooled off as it went 1 for 13 from 3-point range in the second half.

Theo McMillan and Jamison Carlisle each scored 13 points for Camas (9-4).

Bailey Kousonsavath scored 18 points to lead Prairie (4-9).

MOUNTAIN VIEW 71, EVERGREEN 60 — Despite scoring just eight points in the third quarter and going 3 for 10 from the free-throw line, the Thunder (9-2, 5-0 3A Greater St. Helens League stayed undefeated in league play with the win at Evergreen (5-9, 1-4).

The Thunder led 41-30 at halftime, and then Evergreen rallied to make it 49-47 after the third quarter only to see Mountain View put the game away in the fourth.

Mountain View’s Isaiah Vargas scored a team-high 19 points, and Jacob Martin had 16 points.

Dez Daniel of Evergreen led all scorers with 21 points and was 7 for 7 from the line.

SKYVIEW 67, KELSO 53 — Damaree Collins scored 22 points as the Storm rolled to a non-league home win.

Skyview (8-4) took charge by outscoring Kelso 24-10 in the second quarter to lead 36-23.

Gavin Perdue added 14 points for Skyview. Malakai Weimer had eight points and nine rebounds.

Michael Henderson scored 13 points to lead Kelso (7-5).

SETON CATHOLIC 63, CASTLE ROCK 49 — Brady Angelo scored a game-high 31 points with nine 3-pointers as the Cougars grabbed a share of first place in the 1A Trico League.

Angelo scored 14 points in a decisive 23-6 third quarter for Seton (10-3, 2-1 Trico).

Also in double-figures for Seton were Jack Jenniges with 13 points and Lance Lee with 12.

Trystin Marin led Castle Rock (4-5, 1-2) in scoring with 22 points, and Trevor Rogen had 15.

KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 60, LA CENTER 57 — La Center put up a furious rally after going cold in the middle quarters, but King’s Way Christian held on to hand the Wildcats their first Trico League.

The Knights (6-7, 2-1 Trico) played just seven players with four scoring in double figures.

Jaydon Hall led with 18 points, Giovanny Evanson had 17 points and six rebounds, Ryan Tyler 15 points and five assists, and Jamison Duke scored 10 points and had six rebounds.

La Center (5-8, 2-1), which led 20-13 after the first quarter and then scored just 16 over the next two quarters, was led by Colby Hylton’s 25 points. Boston Walker added 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

STEVENSON 54, COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON 42 — Kacen Bach scored 24 points to lead the Bulldogs to a Trico League home win over their Gorge rival.

Leading 21-20 at halftime, Stevenson took charge by outscoring the Bruins 21-13 in the third quarter. Chris Blackledge and Tucker Wyninger each added 10 points for the Bulldogs (8-2, 1-2).

Dylan Nortz scored 11 points and Porter Haskell added 10 points for Columbia (6-3, 1-2).

FIRM FOUNDATION 73, WASHINGTON SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF 61 — Josh Holmgren scored 43 points to lead Firm Foundation in the 2B Columbia Valley League game over visiting WSD.
