Letter: Take look at fireworks’ impact

Just to recap: The Fourth of July tally of the effects of fireworks in Clark County was 10 days and nights of noise and loss of sleep as blasts were heard as late as 2 a.m., two houses burned, multiple other fires started and air pollution index for Clark County reached 209 percent.

It has been stated that fireworks sales are to benefit nonprofits using the sales to fund their activities. I did not see a single nonprofit stand as I drove along the roads in unincorporated Clark County. The big tents featured commercial venders. How many nonprofits actually were issued permits?

We already are well aware of the harmful impact the noise and fumes have on veterans, people with respiratory illnesses and the impact it has on animals. Isn’t it finally time that the Clark County councilors take a serious look at the issue and the impact that fireworks use in Clark County has on its citizens?
