BELLINGHAM — Interstate 5 northbound and southbound lanes at North Lake Samish Road were at a standstill for about two hours Wednesday night when a power line pole snapped, causing two separate collisions.

For unknown reasons, the pole snapped and the power lines fell down on vehicles, blocking the freeway at North Lake Samish Road. The Washington State Patrol was called to the scene at about 6:56 p.m. and by 8:42 p.m. all lanes were open except for the far left lane.

As of Thursday morning, all lanes are open.

Puget Sound Energy reported that 379 customers who lived around the area were impacted by the incident. Power was restored at around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
