Letter: Republicans are not viable option

Recent letters have urged everyone to vote Republican. I see this as an impossible task since there is no such thing as a viable Republican Party anymore. It has become a disjointed group of mindless cowards who have lost any sense of right or wrong.

They complain about the current administration without offering any realistic ideas about solving the country’s challenges. And they blindly follow Donald Trump out of fear and ignorance and refusal to face the truth.

Trump is well known for questionable business practices such as refusing to honor contracts because the contractors can’t afford tying up their businesses in court waiting for payment. How about claiming bankruptcy six times, putting thousands of people out of work? Then, as president, deregulating environmental rules, separating families at the southern border, lowering taxes for the rich and constantly lying about anything and everything?

But the worst? Laughing off the importance of COVID-19, with the resultant damage to the humanity and economy of the U.S.

Vote Republican? Not possible. If you are using an R as your political identification, you need to repent and get out from wishy-washy incompetent leadership and show some guts that used to identify the Republican Party.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
