April Furth, director of Clark County Community Development, recently announced that Max Booth has accepted the position of chief building official and Curtis Eavenson will serve as the county’s interim fire marshal.

Booth has worked in various capacities for Community Development since January 2017. Most recently, he served as the deputy director. His previous roles include building inspector, plans examiner, interim permit center manager and assistant building official. Booth is a former self-employed general contractor and has knowledge and experience of the entire development process.

Eavenson has been serving as the assistant fire marshal since August 2016. He has worked for the county Fire Marshal’s Office since 1998 and has held positions as fire inspector, deputy fire marshal and senior fire marshal. During his career, Eavenson has investigated approximately 900 fire scenes including structural, wildland and vehicle fires.

The Cowlitz Indian Tribe is pleased to announce the appointment of three new leaders — Michael Watkins as tribal administrator, Dalton Fry as director of natural resources, and William Saunders as information technology director.

Watkins previously served as the executive director of health and human services for Cowlitz where he oversaw the delivery of traditional, modern, and culturally sensitive medical and social service practices to tribal members. In his new role, he will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the tribal government. This includes planning and directing all administrative and operational activities consistent with the Tribal Council’s approved budgets, policies and procedures.

Fry previously served as the fish distribution and lands manager for Cowlitz within the Natural Resources Department. In his new role, he will lead the department’s work to ensure that plants, animals and landscapes central to the Cowlitz culture persist and thrive for future generations. This work is achieved by restoring ecosystems, maintaining lands, and providing fish and forest resources to every tribal member.

Saunders joins Cowlitz from a long career in information technology, most recently serving as the chief information officer at Tactical Air Support, Inc. In his new role, he will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information systems and technology initiatives.
