Letter: Truth is needed

Perhaps it was no coincidence that Martin Schram’s opinion article (“GOP’s new weapon: Truth,” The Columbian, July 6) appeared in conjunction with Mr. Kerr’s letter (“Biden has no clue,” Our Readers’ Views, July 12).

With the creation of Mr. Schram’s “Republican Truth Squad,” we can come closer to having meaningful conversations. Mr. Kerr’s assertion implies that Democrats do not understand economics, but the big picture shows only one time the U.S. budget has been balanced was under a Democratic president and the GDP since 1945 has shown greater gains with Democratic presidents than Republican. So, Mr. Kerr once you are a member of the “Truth Squad” and you make a comment about the government, perhaps a Democrat will respond to you.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
