The return of Marvel’s interstellar super-crew tops the DVD releases for the week of Aug. 1.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”: The final installment of director James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy focuses on the origin story of Rocket Raccoon, and his past as an lab animal.

“With a new comic book movie gig at another studio, Gunn is a filmmaker with nothing to lose in the MCU, and for the end of his trilogy, his Marvel swan song, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ he throws it all at the wall with a satisfying splat,” writes Tribune News Service critic Katie Walsh in her review. “It’s to Marvel and Disney’s credit that they let Gunn deliver such an incredibly weird, gleefully goopy genre picture.”
