Letter: Counties should work together

As the mother of young Abigail Lacey Dudley, who was killed by a drunk driver, our counties face unique challenges when it comes to implementing ordinances related to juveniles and parental responsibilities. However, it is important for these counties to prioritize the well-being and safety of their young residents, and to find creative solutions that work within their limitations.

One potential approach is to partner with other counties or organizations to share resources and expertise. This could include pooling funding to hire additional staff or sharing best practices for working with juveniles and their parents. Small counties may also benefit from investing in technology and training programs that enable their staff to work more efficiently and effectively.

Ultimately, small counties that prioritize the needs and safety of their young residents will reap long-term benefits in terms of community health and well-being. By implementing effective ordinances related to juvenile and parental responsibilities, these counties can create safer, more supportive environments for young people while also maintaining their unique identities and character. With the right approach and investment, small counties can successfully navigate the challenges of implementing these important policies and make a positive impact on the lives of their residents.
