Clark County sheriff’s deputies arrested an 18-year-old Vancouver man Tuesday morning after they say he sped away from a traffic stop at more than 130 mph in the Orchards area.

At about 2 a.m., a deputy tried to pull over a reckless driver who was traveling more than 100 mph east on Northeast Padden Parkway from Northeast 117th Avenue. The driver refused to stop. The deputy did not pursue, in accordance with Washington law, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Other law enforcement nearby spotted the vehicle and saw the driver before he sped away again. A few minutes later, a deputy contacted a man walking nearby who matched the description of the driver. The man ran from the deputy in the 15500 block of Northeast 85th Street. Deputies found the car unoccupied in the neighborhood, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies eventually found Tyler Stout hiding behind a vehicle. He was arrested after another foot chase and booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of attempting to elude a police vehicle, the news release states.
