Columbia River mainstem, tributary fishing summary for May 29-June 4

The Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary May 29-June 4.

Spring salmon and steelhead fishing on the Columbia River downstream of Bonneville Dam is closed June 1.

Summer Chinook salmon, sockeye and steelhead fishing on sections of the Columbia River opens from June 16-July 31 from the Astoria-Megler Bridge to Highway 395 Bridge at Pasco and from Richland to Priest Rapids Dam.

COLUMBIA RIVER MAINSTEM

SALMON/STEELHEAD

Sec 1 (Bonneville) — One bank angler had no catch.

Sec 4 (Vancouver) — Nine bank anglers released one Chinook adult; 10 boats/16 rods kept two Chinook adults and one jack.

Sec 5 (Woodland) — 21 bank anglers no catch.

Sec 6 (Kalama) — 41 bank anglers kept two Chinook adults; four boats/seven rods kept no catch.

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) — One boat/two rods kept one Chinook adult.

Sec 8 (Longview) — 22 bank anglers kept one steelhead; 35 boats/67 rods kept 13 Chinook adults and two jacks.

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) — Five bank anglers had no catch.

Sec 10 (Cathlamet) — Two bank angler had no catch.

SHAD

Sec 1 (Bonneville) — 29 bank anglers kept 290 shad; one boat/three rods kept 30 shad.

Sec 6 (Kalama) — One boat/two rods kept 20 shad and released 80 shad.

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) — One boat/two rods kept 10 shad.

COLUMBIA RIVER TRIBUTARIES

SALMON/STEELHEAD

Cowlitz River from Interstate 5 bridge downstream — 66 bank rods released one Chinook adult; one boat/two rods kept two Chinook adults and released one Chinook.

Cowlitz River above the I-5 bridge — 23 bank rods kept three Chinook adults; three boats/seven rods kept one Chinook jack and two steelhead.

Kalama River — 26 banks rods kept one Chinook adult and one steelhead; four boats/nine rods kept five Chinook adults and one jack.

Lewis River — 27 bank anglers kept one Chinook adult and one jack; 10 boats/24 rods kept seven Chinook adults and two jacks.

Wind River — Five bank rods had no catch; five boats/12 rods kept one Chinook adult.

Drano Lake — Four bank rods and no catch; 30 boats/70 rods kept seven Chinook adults.
