Letter: Jesus hated sin, not sinner

By Carrie Ross, VANCOUVER

In “Jesus was original ‘woke’ guy,” (Our Readers’ Views, June 4), the writer seems to think only those who strive to live the life depicted in New Testament can legitimately be called Christian. The Jesus I know told a thief on a cross that they’d “be in Paradise together.” He certainly hadn’t lived the Christian life. The Jesus I know has never, nor will ever, find anyone “disgusting.” The sin, yes; the sinner He loves regardless. The Jesus I know hates the evil of abortion (child sacrifice) and homosexuality. I’m guessing this is where the writer and I part ways.

If one reads and studies God’s Word one will learn those two evils are what brought about the destruction of Israel by Babylon back in the day. God is love, mercy, grace. He’s also a just judge. He will not allow sin to go unpunished. Which is exactly why this nation has fallen so far.

Re: drag queens, someone asked why I’m so “up in arms” over them as Milton Berle, etc., did that on TV. Huge difference. Folks on TV back then were comedians. They were making fun. It was laughed at. They weren’t entertaining toddlers and children.
