Lions help with Washington State School for the Blind Track and Field Day

CENTRAL PARK — The Washington State School for The Blind held its annual Track and Field Day on May 18. The event attracted some 250 participants from across the Pacific Northwest.

Lions Club members from Ridgefield, Vancouver and Fort Vancouver clubs assisted with the event. Athletes participated in sprint and long-distance running, long jump, high jump, and modified javelin and shot-put events.

Information tables were staffed by the Clark County Council for the Blind, National Federation for the Blind, Clark College Peer Mentor and Disability Support Services, Lighthouse for The Blind and other groups. A K-9 officer and handler from Vancouver Police also attended.
