The Clark College Board of Trustees added Marilee Scarbrough to its governing board to replace Rekah Strong, who stepped down June 7. Strong serves as the executive director of Educational Opportunities for Children and Families, a Southwest Washington-based provider of Head Start and early learning programs.

Scarbrough has served as legal counsel for Vancouver Public Schools since 2011 and previously served as the policy and legal services director for Washington State School Directors’ Association and counsel for the Washington State House of Representatives’ Higher Education Committee, among other positions.

“I am excited to serve my community in this new role,” Scarbrough said in a release shared this week. “I look forward to working with the Clark College board and administration to inspire learners to excel, transform lives, and strengthen our increasingly diverse community.”

Appointed to the board by Gov. Jay Inslee, Scarbrough will serve a five-year term and represent the community of Southwest Washington in District 14, which includes Clark, Skamania, and western Klickitat counties.
