Alan Maniscalco and Shan Wickham of Rally Pizza have revived their popular pizza spot as a permanent pop-up at Victor-23 Brewing at 2905 St. Johns Blvd., Vancouver.

The grand opening March 14 — Pi Day — showcases a re-invented Rally’s menu of beer-friendly offerings, such as garlic bread, pepperoni pizza and the meat-heavy Board Meating pizza with three types of salami.

Executive chef Alex McCormick will run the kitchen. McCormick graduated from the Clark College Culinary Program, worked at Rally Pizza and recently served as a line cook and prep cook at Little Conejo. Sage Maniscalco-Wickham will also lead the team, which includes several former Rally staff members. Maniscalco-Wickham has worked at Rally Pizza for the last 6½ years.

Rally Pizza closed Dec. 31, saying it was no longer feasible for the restaurant to operate at its current scale with the economic challenges facing the industry.

The new collaboration was initiated by Victor-23’s owner, Bryan Ward, when his former food partner, Tehuana Oaxacan Cuisine, pulled out. Ward chose Rally after considering two other Portland-based pizza companies. He also hired head brewer Tom Torresdal, formerly of Hermiston Brewing, Portland Brewing Co., and Wayfinder, last fall. Victor-23’s IPA, Imitator, won the gold medal at the Washington Beer Awards 2022 in November.
