Firefighters quickly extinguished an attic fire Sunday evening at a home in central Vancouver’s Maplewood neighborhood.

A Vancouver Fire engine company was dispatched shortly after 8 p.m. for reports of white smoke coming from a residence near East 21st Street and Laurel Place. Responding firefighters upgraded the alarm after finding smoke coming from the home’s eaves, the agency said in a news release.

Firefighters went into the house and poked holes in the ceiling to confirm the attic fire, the agency said.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.

There were no reported injuries.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
