High honors

The Historic Trust presents the next event in the Vancouver Barracks Military Association’s Military History Talk series, a presentation about Mary Edwards Walker, the first female surgeon in the Union Army and the only woman to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. The lecture will be presented by Michelle Marra, a descendant of Walker. The free event is 6:30 p.m. today at the O.O. Howard House, 750 Anderson St., Vancouver. To attend, call 253-223-0125 or email jddavis@rocketmail.com. For more information about the series of talks, visit vbma.us or thehistorictrust.org.

Reeds and strings

Columbia Way. The evening includes a catered meal. Tickets are $125 per person, available at vancouversymphony.org or by calling 360-735-7278. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Cloud play

March’s exhibit at Art at the Cave, 108 E. Evergreen Blvd., Vancouver, is “Clouds Illusions and Horizon,” featuring work from local artists who responded to an open call for art. The exhibit is named for the lyrics of “Both Sides Now,” by Joni Mitchell: “I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now, from up and down and still, somehow, it’s cloud illusions I recall.” The exhibit includes an artists’ salon from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the gallery. The exhibition will continue through March 31. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Learn more at artatthecave.com.
