Letter: Save with innovative energy

By Michael Moore, VANCOUVER

Would you be interested in a future that doesn’t hurt your wallet? A future for the kids, their kids, by changing the way we humans build our cities by using the storm and sewer system to make electricity?

Portland is doing something like this already. Isn’t it good sense? At 60, I’m never going to see that future but I would sure support anything that makes money, like electricity, that can pay for growth in Clark County and Vancouver. My friend, Chris Hladick, former Region 10 EPA head under Trump, said that Unalaska, Alaska, where he was city manager, is looking at similar projects. Even oil companies like Shell are investing in joint ventures.

There’s some Homeland Security money the BPA never used in that canceled Yacolt project to secure power lines, the work has to be done anyway. Private investment, like energy companies, is there. Just think about it, email the city of Vancouver to have open meetings. Maybe there’s ideas like mine, and mine aren’t all original. Saving for a future should start with government and that’s good sense.
