A Washougal teenager was injured Sunday morning when her car crossed the center line and struck the side of a tank truck on state Highway 14 in Skamania County.

The crash occurred at about 9:20 a.m. near Milepost 28, according to a Washington State Patrol crash memo.

A 2005 Volvo S60, driven by Jocelyn B. Cotrone, was eastbound on the highway when it went out of control, crossed into the oncoming lane and struck the passenger’s side of the westbound tractor-trailer, the crash memo states. The Volvo rolled and came to rest on its top in the westbound ditch.

Cotrone, 18, of Washougal was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver. The driver of the tank truck, Jason A. Shepherd, 43, of Portland, was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts, according to the crash memo.

Troopers say Cotrone is facing second-degree negligent driving and illegal use of studded tires.

The crash remains under investigation.
