Letter: Reject cement batch plant

By Karissa Halstrom, Vancouver

Clark County Councilors Karen Bowerman and Gary Medvigy signed a settlement in 2021 that gave the green light to poison people in our community with a cement batch plant operation near schools and homes, knowing full well the implications. Bowerman’s campaign received contributions from the operator of the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad, who would have benefited from that plant. Now they are pushing for heavy industrial activity on that rail line still. They should be ashamed of themselves, and if they aren’t, then we must shame them and replace them in 2024.
