RICHLAND — An 11-run sixth inning by Lynden Christian put an end to an otherwise stellar softball season by the Columbia Bruins of White Salmon.
Lynden Christian, which entered the sixth inning with a 2-0 lead and added 11 runs — all with two outs — to win by mercy rule 13-0 in six innings in the 1A state tournament’s round of 12.
The Bruins (22-3) had two hits each from Teagan Blankenship and Ella Reed among the team’s seven hits.
Columbia started its season 18-0 before losing 5-4 to Class 4A Camas on May 11. Its other loss was to Montesano at the 1A district tournament.
