KALAMA — Cowlitz County Fire District 5 knocked down a small brush fire in Kalama Thursday evening, according to Cowlitz County Fire District Five Commissioner Terry Sinkler.
Fire District Five personnel responded to the 3500 block of Green Mountain Road in Kalama after 4:43 p.m.
Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze within minutes, said Sinkler.
Sinkler said the brush fire started after someone burned garbage on private property, torching trees and blackberry bushes in the process.
