On Wednesday, Children’s Home Society of Washington announced a $1 million gift from the Ed & Dollie Lynch Fund at the Community Foundation of Southwest Washington to support the renovation of the new Vancouver Family Resource Center.

The Vancouver Family Resource Center, at 4421 N.E. St. Johns Road, provides services to families including behavioral health counseling, caregiver support and education and emergency assistance.

The Children’s Home Society of Washington said its relocation to a new site will enhance its ability to serve families in their local communities, making support services through the family resource center more accessible and convenient for those who live and work nearby. Leaders with the organization hope to start the renovation sometime in the near future.

“We deeply appreciate the Ed & Dollie Lynch Fund’s tremendous gift that will allow Children’s Home Society of Washington to better serve the families in Southwest Washington at our new family resource center location,” said David Newell, president and CEO of the Children’s Home Society of Washington.

In addition to the gift from the Ed & Dollie Lynch Fund, the nonprofit is seeking $3 million in funding to support the full renovation of the building.

“The mental health needs of our youth and families is greater than ever, so we must scale our organizations to meet the demand,” said Michael Lynch, adviser to the fund and son of Ed and Dollie Lynch. “The new location and renovation is going to be part of that scaling.”

Children’s Home Society of Washington was founded in 1896 and serves more than 39,000 children and their families across the state. Its mission is to create strong families, build engaged communities and be an advocate for children.
