Letter: Help support health care workers

The editorial “In Our View: U.S. health care system requires checkup” (The Columbian, Oct. 25) really opened my eyes as to how the health care system is not doing good at all, even though the government puts most of their money in it.

Us readers need to do something about it and join our fellow health care workers on this. Health care workers are always providing for us when we need help, and now that they need help, are we not the ones that need to step up? If we readers raise awareness to this ongoing issue, we will be able to help the workers get what they need, which is better pay, benefits, training and working conditions. The lack of those things is also putting their patients in danger.

What we readers can do is cast your vote yes for strikes, help donate to any fundraisers benefiting the strike, donate supplies, write letters to local governments, etc. Choose now if you support health care workers, make a change in health care. Your opinion makes a difference.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
