Letter: Promote public transportation

By Archer McAllister, RIDGEFIELD

Props to The Columbian for covering the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act as well as the Railroad Rehabilitation & Improvement Financing. As a student who uses Clark County’s public transportation every weekday, I’m definitely one to appreciate such systems.

The national-level effort to not only create affordable housing, but nearby hubs of public transportation, is a very important part of the effort to make public transportation accessible and sustainable for as many people as possible. It is fundamentally a value that residents of Clark County should care about, and I would say the same for any smaller community; all areas of the country have people that need our public transportation systems.

I would recommend to any readers who were interested in the issue to further look into urbanist thought. I believe you’ll find a similar philosophy and attitude toward these issues and even more ideas like these federal programs, which could enhance public transportation on a large and small scale.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
