CENTRAL PARK – U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez recently held a veterans career and resource fair at the Clark College Veterans Center of Excellence.

At the event, more than 200 Southwest Washington veterans and their families were able to meet with 55 local organizations and employers, learn about employment opportunities, and get support with veterans benefits.

“It’s our responsibility to ensure our nation’s heroes are well supported after returning home,” said Gluesenkamp Perez. “I’m so glad we could help connect Southwest Washington veterans and their families to the resources, jobs, and benefits they deserve. I sincerely appreciate all the veterans who stopped by this event, as well as Clark College and community organizations who joined together to support our local heroes.”

Gluesenkamp Perez’s team can assist Southwest Washington veterans who need help with a federal agency. Those in need of immediate assistance are encouraged to reach out online, by phone or in person.

“We are grateful for the collaborative effort with Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez and the community organizations,” said Donna Larson, Clark College Veterans Center of Excellence’s associate director. “This career and resource fair is a valuable opportunity for our Southwest Washington veterans and their families to connect with local organizations and employers, explore employment options, and receive essential support for veterans’ benefits.”

The Clark College Veterans Center of Excellence coordinates comprehensive support services for veteran students. These services address academic, financial, physical and social needs for student veterans and include: math, science, and English tutors, textbook and calculator loans, textbook purchase, quiet study space, a computer lab with printers, practical workshops, break areas and more.
