Letter: Short on ideas, long on vitriol

Leslie Lewallen follows the typical Republican game plan of: 1) attacking her opponents using scare tactics (drugs will flow into Vancouver if light rail is built on the Interstate 5 Bridge); 2) making preposterous claims about the Democrats (they are responsible for the closing of Target stores in Portland; really?) and 3) red-baiting the current incumbent, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, claiming “Perez has long been a supporter of violent groups who actively denounce the police.”

Tired old tropes. Nothing positive or forward-looking, just the usual about spending too much money on whatever. Short on ideas, long on vitriol, she follows the Republican playbook of twisting facts and using emotionally charged language and ad hominems.
