Letter: Vote wisely, demand integrity

By Scott Ingram, Ridgefield

Dear political parties, choose your candidates wisely.

I won’t vote for any candidate found guilty of fraud, rape, or inciting insurrection. Ever. And, I feel justified in making decisions regarding a candidate’s guilt based on my own observations. Tell a blatant lie to get elected? You’re dead to me. Mislead others on the outcome of an election? You’re dead to me. Guilty of rape and/or fraud? You’re dead to me. Your name shouldn’t be allowed on any ballot. Ever. If you do make it on a ballot, don’t expect to get my vote.

Speaking of not getting it, when applying for credit at a financial institution, you are required to sign a statement attesting to the accuracy and truthfulness of the information you provide to allow the institution to evaluate the risk of lending to you. Lying on a loan application is a form of fraud.

Finally, federal law prohibits financial institution employees from accepting any gift valued at more than $150. Employees are required to sign a code of conduct acknowledging this requirement annually to remain employed.

What’s wrong with requiring the same level of integrity for Supreme Court justices that we require of every bank teller?
