Letter: Every election is important

By Patti Reynolds, Vancouver

I am continually puzzled at the lack of interest in voting in our county. Yes it may be the same in other areas of our country, but let’s focus on our rapidly growing region since every day it seems something critical to our environment, student education/safety or public well-being is in the local headlines.

How were we convinced that city council races, mayoral races, school board races, elections of fire commissioners or of port commissioners are “off year”? Every opportunity to reinstate or realign our local government and our students’ education is our right and our responsibility.

Every election is an “on year” election.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
