Comedian Dex Carvey, the eldest son of “Saturday Night Live” alum Dana Carvey, died from an accidental drug overdose on Wednesday night.

The funnyman — who opened for his father’s 2016 Netflix special, “Straight White Male, 60” — was 32.

“Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy,” his father and mother, Paula Zwagerman, confirmed in a statement posted to Instagram on Thursday. “Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things — music, art, filmmaking, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately.”

“It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life,” they continued. “When you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun.”

The parents referred to “The Funster” star as someone who “loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee.” They described him as “a beautiful person” whose “handmade birthday cards are a treasure.”

“We will miss him forever,” they concluded their message, adding that their hearts and prayers go out to others struggling with addiction.

According to Deadline, authorities said Dex Carvey’s girlfriend called them after he apparently locked himself in the bathroom late Wednesday night at his home. After finding him unresponsive, attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

An autopsy has been scheduled by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office.
