Letter: Protesters bring fight to U.S.

Pro-Palestine protesters blocked traffic at the Port of Tacoma last week. Some of them waved flags and carried signs that were against U.S. and Israeli efforts in the war involving Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran, et. al. A similar incident occurred in San Francisco. The well-organized group did not want the cargo ship to carry supplies to Israel.

I have a grandson who works hard and long hours at the Port of Portland. He depends on his longshoreman’s job to support his family. I would like to ask the leaders of the protest group: What gives you the authority to deprive our citizens of their right to work? Your demands to “free all prisoners” and anti-American and Israeli rants leaves no doubt where your allegiance lies.

It would be well to remember this war is not just taking place in Israel. It is here and now, in this country. Is Islam a religion of peace? For some, yes. For the mobs, only when it’s convenient.
