Letter: Save Vanco Golf Range

By Tom Erickson , VANCOUVER
Published: November 16, 2023, 6:00am

I have been using Vanco Golf Range for almost 40 years. It is the only range in the city core and many nights on my way home from the office I would stop and hit a bucket just to unwind. Even though I belonged to a course, I would still hit at Vanco because they have heaters and night lighting.

Now the city in its great wisdom is deciding to close the range (it’s on city-owned land) and put up an apartment house. I urge any golfer who has ever used a driving range or any person who thinks they would ever try the game to write a letter to the editor, the city council or the Vancouver Planning Commission. Let the golfing community come together and keep the only driving range open.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
