SEATTLE — A pedestrian was hit and killed Tuesday by a King County Metro bus on Interstate 5 in downtown Seattle, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The collision was reported shortly before 8 p.m. on the collector-distributor lanes near the exit to Madison Street. The pedestrian, who died at the scene, was walking in the left lane, Trooper Chelsea DeHart said.

No one was on the bus except for the driver, who wasn’t injured. “Just shaken up,” DeHart said.

The two left lanes were blocked during the response. The collector-distributor lanes were then closed completely for the night at 9:30 p.m. for construction.
