Letter: Support courageous Ukraine

By Den Mark Wichar, VANCOUVER

$5,000,000,000,000! Combined cost of Iraq and Afghanistan “interventions” has so far been $5 trillion dollars – that’s trillion – and rivers of precious American, coalition, and innocent civilian blood. And what has been the result of all that irreplaceable loss? Nothing good.

Yet, extreme Republicans state that any money for Ukraine, requiring not one drop of American blood, is too much to offer, while Ukrainians bleed against the brutality of Russia’s invasion, brutality that threatens democracy and international order everywhere, including here.

Hypocrisy, cowardice, selfishness, and stupidity of opposition to aid for Ukraine are shocking, though pleasing to America’s adversaries, who even now smile on those obstructionists who divide this country while ignoring that those adversaries have been attacking America, too, in cyberwarfare.

Ukraine is courageously defending not only itself in this horrific conflict, but defending all of us who cherish freedom, independence, and justice. Ukraine needs and deserves our full support. Slava Ukraini! Heroyam slava!
