Tyler Flanagan started the game blazing and didn’t slow down.

The Central Washington running back from Woodland returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown in the Wildcats’ 38-35 win over Eastern New Mexico on Saturday in Ellensburg.

Flanagan went on to rush for a game-high 113 yards and two more touchdowns. The redshirt sophomore found the end zone from 8 yards in the first quarter and 1 yard in the second quarter.

On Monday, Flanagan was named the Lone Star Conference’s offensive player of the week for the second week in a row.

Flanagan has rushed for 580 yards nine touchdowns in six games and is the leading rusher in the NCAA Division-II LSC. He is averaging 95.0 yards per game and 6.0 yards per carry.
