Letter: Help keep seniors in the swim

Clark County seniors are losing access to life-preserving facilities. Many Clark County seniors utilize pool facilities for access to low-impact exercise that helps them preserve their mobility and fitness. Unfortunately they are losing access to these valuable opportunities due to pool closures in the county.

LA Fitness closed its Fourth Plain pool six months ago for repairs and has yet to reopen with no ETA in sight. Just recently the Hazel Dell LA Fitness facility pool was closed for the second time in eight months and inquiries to management about when amenities would reopen have been met with a response that they don’t have any idea when the pool would reopen.

Are the pools simply being phased out? This is a vital resource for our aging population that is growing rapidly. We need to attract more businesses and facilities that are tailored to the needs of our senior population to aid and assist in their quality of life.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
