Letter: Important to work together

By Glenn Ekberg, VANCOUVER

Our forefathers had a great idea. Have elected people representing the people electing them bringing forth proposals to be discussed and voted upon with majority rule.

What happened? Are we too big? The 535 people who say they represent their constituents in Washington, D.C., cannot admit a bill to the House or the Senate without it going through one person who only represents his or her party ideas and goals, not the public.

Make sure our senators and representatives understand our goals. An email or a letter to your representative helps get the point across. Parties depend on voters for money and they need to know what their supporters need done, not what the party wants to do. We are all in this country together now, it’s important to work together.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
