WOODLAND — Woodland High School pulled out all the stops this year with its It’s Good to Be Home homecoming event held on Oct. 13.

Each year, the high school encourages alumni classes celebrating reunions to join in the festivities, so alumni from different years can be recognized during the big game.

“We want to acknowledge our amazing graduates from over the years and celebrate their accomplishments,” said Shari Conditt, U.S. Government teacher for the high school who also serves as faculty organizer for homecoming. “Even after graduating from Woodland, our alumni remain a key part of our success in providing an outstanding education for our students by offering their ongoing support.”

Throughout October, students took part in traditional activities including the Homecoming Door Decorating Contest with “A Journey Through the Eras” as this year’s theme. The week before homecoming, students throughout the district participated in Spirit Dress-Up Days with each day featuring a different theme, continuing a new tradition started last year.

“Our goal with Spirit Dress-Up Days is to invite all students in all of Woodland’s schools, not just the high school, to participate in some of the celebrations,” said Conditt. “We hope to inspire younger students to keep their eye on the end goal of their academic careers – graduation from high school.”

In addition to the traditions of past homecomings, this year featured a special Beaver Alumni Band that performed during the big game.
