Washougal’s Jose Alvarez-Cruze walked away from football after injury, but was pulled back to the Panthers for senior year

Senior lineman suffered traumatic injury in final game of junior year, before returning to team late in the summer

WASHOUGAL — Without football, Jose Alvarez-Cruze felt lost.

The Washougal lineman chose to walk away from the game after suffering a head, neck and back injury while trying to make a tackle in a Class 2A state playoff game against Highline last November, the final game of his junior season.
