Letter: Pushing corrosive narratives

A reminder that Joe Kent has been on Alex Jones’ show “Info Wars” over a dozen times. A show used to push corrosive narratives to the superlative degree. A show used to harass school shooting victims, pushing the idea that they are crisis actors.

I understand there is good chance that we as Americans are so removed from the reality of today, this may well fall on deaf ears. Unfortunately, many believe people like Joe Kent, Alex Jones and Donald Trump are not representative of American values; they are. These people represent a very real demographic: the disagreeable, the perpetually outraged and the willfully ignorant, all united in hatred of the mythical “other” — an other so large and so grand that it can be stopped only by embracing the lowest qualities of mankind.

I can understand the frustrations one may have with our broken two-party system, and lord knows I can gripe about some of the Democrats’ policies, too. But the Republican Party has very clearly abandoned reason and cunning for unreasonable action and less-than-appropriate conversation.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
