Letter: Put high school sports on radio

Being somewhat new to the area, I have found this community in Southwest Washington to be very tight knit. So many local schools have great community support, and fans rally around their schools like any great prep community.

However, I find it odd and somewhat deplorable that there is no radio coverage of prep games in the area. Even if we could find one local radio station to produce one game each week, it would be a great chance for kids to hear their names on the radio, for local businesses to advertise to their very specific audiences and to bring more coverage to the great prep sports in the area. We have state champion football teams, soccer teams, volleyball teams, baseball teams and softball teams that could benefit from the coverage. We have many talented people who could provide play-by-play and color commentary; we just need the station. I hope someone in the area steps up and starts this. I think everyone benefits.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
