Lukas Morse of Seton Catholic is The Columbian Week 2 football player of the week

Junior had three interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, in win last week

Lukas Morse of Seton Catholic is The Columbian Week 2 high school football athlete of the week.

Morse received 757 of the 1,877 votes cast this week to win the honor.

Morse had three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown, and seven solo tackles in a 23-7 win over Goldendale.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season.

The next player-of-the-week vote will be posted on Monday and run through Wednesday.

Here are the accomplishments of the other Week 2 nominees:

James Bethune, Evergreen

Rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns, including a 64-yarder, on just 10 carries in a 62-14 win over Hockinson.

Cash Cook, Mountain View

The senior threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns, then rushed for another TD in a 49-24 win over Ridgefield.

Jake Davidson, Camas

The junior completed 23 of 30 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns in a 55-20 win over Glacier Peak.

Jalen Ward, La Center

The senior rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-8 win over Woodland.
